Labrador Retriever - Breed Behavior

Disposition:

Labradors are sweet, loving, intelligent, goofy dogs. They love to play and will do so as much as possible, but are also great workers. As Labs are so social, they like to be around humans as much as possible. Training and socialization should be started at an early age, although Labs are easily trained and get along well with other dogs. Labs can usually be trusted around cats, although should always be supervised around other small animals.

 

Activity Level:

Labrador Retrievers love to work and play, and must be allowed to do both often. They have a large amount of energy and if not allowed to use this energy in the proper way, will do so in any way they can find. Labs love to dig and will do so whenever they get the opportunity if not trained not to.

Labradors could live in an apartment assuming they get adequate exercise, though they do best with a medium or large-sized backyard/garden.
